With this image the side lighting had to be just right to bring out the bark of the cottonwood tree. At the same time, the shadow of the tree gave a nice balance to the composition. The clouds were wild that day so it was just a matter of waiting until I felt they had enveloped the tree and gave a majestic feel to the entire scene.
